I wanted a cover without the characters’ faces so readers could picture them for themselves. I sent a description of the book and a few images for the mood. The first version was a little darker than I expected, but a few colour changes brought it together. Now the cover really fits my story.

I bought a premade cover for a detective novel. At first I wasn’t sure how my rather long title would look on it. But the text was placed well, with nothing crowded or lost. The artwork itself hardly changed — I liked it straight away.

I only came to have a look and ended up buying a premade cover)) It was such a good fit for my book. Looks even better with my title on it, thank you!

I first tried putting a cover together myself, but it wasn’t working. I brought my sketch and explained what I wanted to show. In the end, only the idea from the sketch survived, and that was for the best. I especially like what they did with the title — I wouldn’t have thought of that myself.

I left the cover until the last minute, even though the book was ready to publish. I explained straight away when I needed it. They made the deadline, with time left to look it over properly and adjust a couple of details. Thank you for saving me from postponing the release.

My biggest worry was ending up with a beautiful picture that had nothing to do with my book. So I probably went into too much detail about what I wanted. I liked that they asked questions instead of simply starting work. The final idea wasn’t the one I came in with, but it was a much better fit.

I spent ages browsing the premade covers and kept coming back to one. I decided to buy it, even though I’d originally imagined my book looking quite different. Seeing it with my own name and title felt strange at first. As if the book was finally real, not just a file on my laptop.

After the first version I asked for a bigger title: I liked everything at full size, but the lettering got lost in a small image. They adjusted it and removed one unnecessary detail too. Now the cover works both full size and as a small catalog thumbnail. I’m happy with it.

I came back for the sequel. I wanted to keep the look of the first book without getting the same cover in another colour. It worked: you can tell the books belong to one series, but each has its own mood. They look great together.

I find it easier to choose a finished design than to explain what I want when I’m not really sure myself. I found a suitable cover here, they changed the title and author name, and that was it. No lengthy discussions. The result is exactly what I chose.

I ordered a cover for a collection. I wanted something simple, without a pile of images and effects. We even removed some elements from the first version along the way, which made it noticeably better. Just a background, one main detail and the text. That was the kind of design I wanted.
